 Celebrating Classic Style
Quiet, Good Taste For Your Wardrobe & Home

Welcome, Dear Friends

Dressing Well  evolves as we do. I thought by this time in life I'd be wearing caftans and sipping cocktails by the poolside. Instead, I'm living in the middle of the most beautiful nowhere you've ever seen, trying to make my log cabin identify as an elegant lady's hunting lodge. Caftans need not apply. I wore a school uniform for years on end, so when I got to college I had to figure out how to put together an outfit. And it turned out, I loved mixing and matching what I managed to buy. This is also when I discovered TJ Maxx, and these were the days you could find Prada and Purple Label Ralph Lauren if you knew how to dig. I honed my hunting i.e. shopping skills over the years, and after a degree in counseling, a stint at Sotheby's in London, brokering estate jewelry and personal shopping for J. Crew, my worlds collided and here I am 16+ years and counting as a wardrobe consultant and stylist

A Well-dressed Home  has also always been of interest to me,

and now even more so as life is evolving here on the mountain. I can't help it, wardrobes and homes go together

for me. A Chanel-ish jacket with a Gap tee, and an antique chest with a discount store lamp! Since moving,

I've been voraciously re-reading my decorating and gardening books, and must admit I have always loved

rooms that are pretty, that are charming, and that are gracious, as all my chintz and china can

attest to - you may call it grandmillennial style, I've always called it puttering about and collecting discarded

treasures. And now that I have a teeny piece of land, I'm learning how to take care of the peonies, lilacs and

wildflowers I inherited, and the hydrangeas and foxgloves I will plant. So, as my life is evolving, you'll find

more posts on homes and gardens, too.

It's a quaint and old-fashioned concept, a blog that is, to which I have devoted myself since the early days,

and this is where you'll find me, outside the clamor and clutter of the social media circus.

I'm not one for documenting every aspect of my life online, or the scrolling culture packed

with noisy ads.

But since my move to the mountain, I've been wanting to connect with you on a more personal level.

Over the years I've collected many stories and discoveries, held close to my chest, and

it seems the right time to gather a community of kindred spirits, fellow style-lovers and source-sharers, in a

private corner of the internet, brimming with our beautiful ideas and inspiration. The Collection is our new home

for this private community (previously called Insiders). And it's only $5/mo. I'll also bring you further into my wild world

on the mountain, and behind the scenes as I'm decorating my "lady's hunting lodge." It's an adventure, for sure. Won't you  join us?

Welcome to this tiny, peaceful corner of the internet where we pursue ...

quiet, good taste for your wardrobe and home!

jess - I want to feature somewhere on the site, not sure where or how, that Feedspot ranked my blog in the Top 100 style blogs (I'm actually in top 40).
